Community Outreach

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ’ goal is to be a thoughtful and responsible corporate citizen in the communities around the world where we live and work. We seek to inspire and encourage our communities through engagement in strong, knowledge-building partnerships.

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ is dedicated to numerous community outreach programs, green initiatives, scholarship opportunities, educational events and more. We host a variety of events to further education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. With hands-on involvement in the community, our hope is to encourage and inspire students to pursue STEM fields.

The ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ Technology Center, located in Riverside, CA, USA, hosts many of these educational STEM events. It is also home to several emerging high-tech companies in the community. This facility is dedicated to providing a strong partnership between resident companies and the community.

Inland Empire Women in Manufacturing (IEwim) Summit and Job Fair

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ participated in the Annual Inland Empire Women in Manufacturing Summit and Job Fair at the San Bernardino International Airport. The purpose of the summit is to change the public perception of women in the manufacturing industry, specifically in the Inland Empire.

STEM Summer Learning Labs

In collaboration with Science and Technology Education Partnership (STEP), the Riverside Unified School District and the City of Riverside, ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ hosts four STEM Summer Learning Labs. Each of the one-week-long learning labs immerses High School students in STEM applications and careers in our community. There are four learning labs in total; STEM in Public Utilities (STEM PULL), STEM In Advanced Manufacturing (STEM I AM), STEM Solutions and STEM in Police and Fire (STEM LEAPS).

Big Brothers Big Sisters

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters Inland Empire for their Workplace mentoring program. Employees are paired with students for John W. North High School in Riverside to help students jump-start their professional development with exposure to career possibilities, academic pathways, life skills, and relationships with skilled professionals.

Path of Life Ministries

Path of Life provides a holistic system of care offered in an integrated, seamless manner to individuals and families, leading them from a place of crisis to a life of stability and self-sufficiency. As part of November National Homeless Awareness Month, ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ provided Path of Life Ministries with 100 Blessing bags. These bags of various toiletry items and undergarments are provided to individuals who utilize Path of Life’s shelter facilities and transition programs. Employees generously donate the items included in the bags.

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ donates to Inland SoCal United Way annually with contributions through company and employee participation. Inland SoCal United Way raises funds to support health and human services provided by United Way affiliated agencies through a single fund-raising campaign.

Habitat for Humanity Riverside

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ participated in the pre-build for the Mulberry Street project with Habitat for Humanity Riverside. The Mulberry Street project will consist of 10 cottage homes to serve as temporary transitional housing for Riverside's homeless. We look forward to helping out in future projects.

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ participated in the Habitat for Humanity Riverside Playhouse Build project, where team members combined their creativity and teamwork to craft a unique candy-themed playhouse. This colorful creation was donated to an organization supporting children aged 4 to 6, bringing joy and inspiration to local youth. Read the press release.
Spark of Love

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ Donates to Spark of Love Toy Drive

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ purchases toys for the Spark of Love Toy Drive sponsored by the Southern California Fire Fighters and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve by collecting aluminum cans and plastic bottles at the Riverside facility. Employees also bring in toy donations to add to the annual campaign.

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ has supported the orphanage "Lirio de los Valles" which houses an average of 150 children and has provided lunch every weekend since 2003. ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ collects tennis shoes to donate to the children.

Housing Expansion Program

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ, along with the Index Foundation (Maquila Association), supports a program to help employees build additions to their homes. This is made possible from revenue generated from the donation of recycled materials. The beneficiaries are employees with high performance and seniority within the company.

Educational Institutions Visiting Program

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ gives guided tours and presentations about the company for institutions of higher learning, such as the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH) and other technical institutions. The tours are focused on showing students what is required to work in the automotive industry in Mexico.

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ participates in Flatout in the Fens to support the local organization, . The organization supports people who have acquired a brain injury. ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ’ team of cyclists completed approximately 600 miles and raised about £3000.

Arkwright Scholarships Trust

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ supports students through the registered charity, Arkwright Scholarships Trust, which administers scholarships to students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The sponsored students attends ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ to gain invaluable work experience and are mentored by our own Apprenticeship Ambassadors. Students build their understanding of the world of work, engineering and the benefits of undertaking an Apprenticeship or Traineeship.

Volunteering in the Community

The ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ team in Ajka participates in a variety of green initiatives to help keep the community clean. They also volunteer at local schools and organizations. To name a few projects, they have helped restore a local playground, provided assistance in school classrooms and have attended other fundraising activities supporting the community.

Dual Training

¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ collaborates with students studying mechanical, electronic and mechatronic engineering at the University of Pannonia in Veszprém, Hungary. This Dual Training was introduced in Hungary in 2015. ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ accepted its first three dual students in 2016. The students study different engineering subjects (measuring techniques, quality assurance, electronic measuring devices and methods, etc.) at the ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ plant based on day-to-day operations. They spend 20-22 weeks at ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ in every semester.

Blood Donation Activity

More than 50 ¸ß±¶ÂÖÅÌ employees participated in a blood donation activity. 71 packs of blood (250cc/pack) were donated and the City Councilor who sponsors the event was in attendance.
